A picture post in Black and White

Let’s go back in time

An obsession with old machinery, rust, history and nostalgia leads me often into old junk yards or in this case, old steam train stations. I get as interested in what machinery is maintained by volunteers as much as what is discarded. Hence a large collection of photographs ranging from wheels to old bolts. I have walked into many such places with my camera saying “I’m interested in rust patterns,” to have volunteers or security guards smirk and say “Yep, we have plenty of that, knock yourself out.”
I have converted these photos to black and white because it added a layer of nostalgia that I enjoyed. Let’s see if you agree?
I like the picture in colour but I LOVE it in black and white.

The Age of Steam was before my time as a young person allowed to travel on trains to different towns by myself. But there is still something that stirs me, smelling the coal, the smoke drifting on the air. The sound of the whistle. (I like the graveyard stones in the back of this picture).

These old style railway carriages were still very much in use in my childhood.

So, let’s see the trains

Now let’s check out old rusty bits!

A last splash of colour and some other photos which grabbed me.

I hope you enjoyed this trip back in time.
Thanks for reading
Ever onwards with courage
