Stormy Days at The Cove

Lulworth Cove is where I first ‘landed’ in Dorset. No, I didn’t arrive by sea. I put a pin in a map and it landed in Lulworth Cove so that is where I moved to. It was a beautiful place to live. The sea is a terrifying beast. I have crossed the Atlantic on a 63ft boat and been in waves that engulfed the boat, like riding a roller coaster. To watch the power of water like this is quite incredible. If it’s a stormy day it is worth braving it down to Lulworth to witness these waves, to have to shout above the incredible noise. To feel your skin covered in salty spray, it sure does clear out the breathing too! It isn’t a day to clamber on the rocks though, it will take you in an instant.

Every wave leaves you in awe at the sheer power of nature. It is exhilarating to witness.

The clouds and sea melt together. The wind so fierce that the clouds move quickly from dark grey to strips of blue for brief seconds.

Anyone else brave enough to be out and about is there for the same reason. For the biggest waves you can hear people’s voices rise in excitement. A bit like the ooo’s and ahh’s of a firework display.

Keeping the camera lens spray free is a challenge. These waves almost have a green tint to them.

Now let’s finish with the sound of some waves on a different day, even a quiet day with blue skies, the waves have some power.

Thanks for reading.

Ever onwards with courage.
